UPDATED APRIL 07th 2012:

Some of the dresses from Sapto Djojokartiko Bride and Evening Collection 2012-2013 are now on displayed at the designer’s booth (P57) in Bazaar Bridal Week 2012.

The dresses that was presented last night at The Grand Ballroom Ritz-Carlton Pacific Place, Jakarta, will be displayed until Sunday, April 08th.

Sapto Djojokartiko participates for the second time (click here to read last year’s coverage) in Harper’s Bazaar Indonesia’s “Bazaar Bridal Week” that once again take place in The Ballroom Ritz-Carlton Pacific Place, Jakarta.

This year, the annual event which already started since Thursday, April 05th until Sunday, April 08th opens from 10.00 am until 09.00 pm.

You can visit Sapto Djojokartiko’s booth at P57 and view the dresses installation pictured that can be your inspiration on your special day.

An article regarding the designer’s collaboration with Batik Danar Hadi was published in the July 2011 issue of Harper’s Bazaar Indonesia. Below are the excerpts from the article:

Kali ini lima desainer ditantang menginterpretasikan gagasan kreatifnya untuk kain batik.

Bukan rahasia bila kolaborasi desainer dan rumah fashion dapat menyuntikkan spirit baru, bahkan mendongkrak penjualan. Seperti, label Danar, seri premium Danar Hadi, produsen batik yang selama tiga tahun belakangan aktif melibatkan desainer. Perkembangan desain busana batik memang menantang, terutama dalam mempertahankan estetika sebagai warisan budaya. Namun konsumen pun makin mendambakan sesuatu yang baru agar tidak terlihat ‘kuno’. Untuk koleksi terkininya, lima desainer Indonesia, yakni Oscar Lawalata, Carmanita, Ghea Panggabean, Hutama Adhi, dan Sapto Djojokartiko, menorehkan goresan desain mereka.

Salah satu koleksi yang menuai perhatian datang dari Sapto Djojokartiko. Batik disulapnya dengan emblem payet pada detail motifnya, memberi sentuhan glamor. Variasi desain terlihat dari model cheongsam, one-shoulder dresses, aksen ruffles, dress berpotongan pendek dengan lilitan pada bagian roknya, hingga model baju kurung. Sementara itu, Carmanita bermain dengan siluet asimetris yang telah lama menjadi ciri khas desainer wanita tersebut. Motif batik diterapkan pada bahan halus menerawang, ditambah aksesori dari bahan batik motif yang senada.

Karya lainnya datang dari Hutama Adhi. Dia juga menyematkan payet pada batik seperti di bagian leher dan pinggang, siluet busananya dibuat dengan teknik drapery layaknya Grecian dress. Lalu Ghea Panggabean yang masih mengambil inspirasi gaya era 1970-an dengan turban, bohemian, dan rok berpotongan high waist. Sedangkan Oscar lebih menekankan pada mood relaks dengan atasan dan bawahan bergaya kasual, yang terefleksi lewat model bolero atau rok dan celana pendek dengan pilihan motif batik berwarna kontras. Masing-masing desainer memiliki ciri khas masing-masing dalam mendefinisikan kemewahan.

Walau beberapa potong mudah diidentifikasikan sebagai pengulangan koleksi sang desainer di kesempatan sebelumnya, mereka makin kritis memaknai batik. Terutama dalam pemilihan motif, teknik desain, dan kombinasi warna. Siluet busananya ditekankan pada kemasan praktis dan modern. Pelansiran koleksi ini bersamaan malam peluncuran buku The Glory of Batik dan Privelege Card Danar Hadi.

On Friday, April 08th, 2011 Sapto Djojokartiko held a fashion show for his 2011 Bridal collection at Ritz-Carlton Pacific Place Ballroom as a part of Harper’s Bazaar Indonesia’s “Bazaar Bridal Week 2011″ (he also opened a booth for the exhibition) where twenty four exquisite wedding dresses from lace, chiffon and tulle was presented by twelve models from JIM Models.

Prior to the show, the Solo born designer stated in his Twitter account (@s_djojokartiko) that the collection will be the most delicate collection so far.
